ABOUT
Born in the USA to immigrant parents - sil-a began songwriting at the age of 9 as a way to cope with their challenging upbringing. they grew up listening to punk pop in secret, filling notebooks with song lyrics with no training or equipment.
upon relocating to Seoul, South Korea, they began to experiment with hip-hop and synth, blending the genres to create a unique music staple. mixing rhyme with electronic beats, they create a cross-cultural experience which intertwines both Korean and English lyrics. their diverse cultural background is reflected in their artistry: a determination to defy labels and an aspiration to challenge society's perceptions of "beauty," "music," and "art."
the ‘etherworld’ is sil-a’s musical playground and a place where everyone is encouraged to express themselves authentically. be my light and shine bright, etherlights.
